OUR resin floors are not just “architectural finishes”. they are “work surfaces”.

LET SUREBOND BE YOUR INDUSTRIAL FLOORING CONTRACTOR, AND specify-DESIGN-install YOUR WORK SURFACEs

surebond analyzes your workflow needs and we specify the work surface design, surface prep, and installation. and it is all about the bond to the substrate. surebond. anything else is just lipstick.

WHETHER IT IS A VETERINARY CLINIC , FOOD PLANT, OR A RAILROAD MAINTENANCE SHOP. FLOORS ARE STILL A WORK SURFACE.

our floor performance goes beyond LEED®

LEED® is great for floors installed during initial construction. But what happens when HACCP®, SQF® or CFIA audit results force a floor replacement due to mold or peeling? Or, slips and falls are causing loss of personnel / WCB claims, or lawsuits? And, your floor is only 6 months - 4 years old?

SureBond defines Performance Criteria from the start, and matches your performance needs to the correct floor, anti slip, and surface prep to ensure that your investment does not end up in a landfill.

Our SureBond floors are “Fit for LIFECYCLE use” using Silikal® systems. Silikal® provides epoxy-and polyurethane alternative materials. They are repairable without demolition, and usually as an overlay on top of the existing floor that will not peel. A gouge is repaired in 1 hour, and returned to full service in 1 hour after!

Pharmaceutical lab epoxy floor is a contaminated failure.
Animal food production floor epoxy failure.

The floor above was not “fit for use” at this pharmaceutical facility. It was two years old when it was demolished.

This floor has been patched so many times. It should have been done once, with a “fit for longterm use” system such as a Silikal® R61 floor.

surebond resins are isocyanate free

DO YOU THINK YOUR NEW PARKING LOT MEMBRANE OR URETHANE CEMENT FLOOR THAT HAS JUST BEEN INSTALLED IS “SAFE” JUST BECAUSE YOU CAN BARELY SENSE THAT “SWEET SMELL”? THINK AGAIN. THAT OFF-GASSING ODOUR CAN BE DANGEROUS FOR YOUR WORKERS AFTER THE INSTALL CREW HAS LEFT. IT MAY EVEN BE HAZARDOUS IF YOU CANNOT EVEN DETECT IT.

THE SAFE LIMIT FOR ISOCYANATE FOR 8 HOURS OF BREATHING IS STATED AS 5 PPB (PARTS PER BILLION). ONE CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY STUDY IN BC HAS SHOWN THAT EVEN WITH VERY GOOD VENTILATION FOR A LARGE PARKING LOT MEMBRANE INSTALLATION, IT TOOK 24 HOURS BEFORE THE ENCLOSED AREA WAS CONSIDERED “SAFE” TO REMOVE.

ISOCYANATES ARE FOUND IN ALL POLYURETHANE-BASED RESIN SYSTEMS. FROM PARKING LOT MEMBRANES TO URETHANE SCREEDS IN FOOD PLANTS, ALL OF THESE SYSTEMS USE A PART “B” HARDENER THAT CONTAINS ISOCYANATES (OTHERWISE KNOWN AS MDI’S (METHYLENE DI-PHENYL DI-ISOCYANATES.)

WHEN THESE SYSTEMS ARE INSTALLED, THEY TAKE SEVERAL DAYS TO CURE SUBSTANTIALLY. ANYONE IN A BUILDING WITH EVEN “GOOD” VENTILATION SHOULD BE WEARING AN ORGANIC CARTRIDGE MASK TO PROTECT THEMSELVES FROM “SENSITIZATION”.

FULLY CURED… In 1 hour

Would you do this to a new floor 1 hour after completion? For us, this is “system normal”. Not abuse. These floors are still there years later, not peeling, still easy to clean.

Silikal® R61 floor that is about 1 hour old, and it is back in FULL SERVICE. Not treated with tenderness: no problem!

When we say ready for full service, we mean full service. The food industry cannot wait for proper curing time to be 1 day, 2 days, or 4 days for a PROPER cure of the material after they leave site. Renovations of facilities in operations do not allow for days of PROPER curing time after. Nor do they allow for priming, matrix, and sealing in a weekend.

On occasion, the food industry gives us only 12 hours total for floor prep, install, and cure time at +5C slab temperature. Then, our clients drag roller racks or drive a forklift to place 1,000 - 2000 kg + pieces of equipment onto the new floor, then drill holes into the slab, and finally sanitize the floor / plant for startup.

EASY TO CLEAN AND NON SLIP

The dairy industry was a key area of our business at our start. Robot Rooms have much ….thixotropic…material that hits the floor. These rooms are exposed continually to water 7x24 and manure. The sanitizers are acidic in nature as well.

Take a look at how easy it is to clean the manure from the floor months after startup….with no pressure washer or scrubbing.

Then look at the same room 5 years later when I made an unannounced visit to see how the floor was doing. You could eat off of the floor. (Well, Almost!) No scrubbing. No peeling.

“the Three things you have to do right when installing coatings (and floors). Surface Prep, Surface Prep, Surface Prep. If you do those 3 things right, you have a chance of success.” -

Inspired by Dr. Sam Bradford, "Smilin' Sam." MATERIALS ENGINEERING, U of A, 1980

Exactly. I will never forget his original words we heard every day in class. I am sure Dr. Bradford would be shaking his head if he saw what we demolished, prep’d, and installed as a substrate. Years later, all of these floors are without any bonding failure.

SureBond has the best surface prep removal in the business, and all done SAFELY, silica dust-free. Details, details, details coupled with the best priming system in the business from Silikal® achieve that bond.

In these reno projects, SureBond has had to become an expert in dust-free demolition of thick-build, epoxy / polyurethane failed floors of Others.

SureBond Safe Floors removing failed, oil-soaked epoxy and polyurethane materials being removed safely.

All work is done dust-free using HEPA filter vacuums on all tools.

SureBond has the only piece of equipment of its kind in Canada. We can remove 12mm of epoxy / polyurethane in a single pass.

INTEGRATED FLOOR AND COVE

OUR FLOOR AND COVE INTEGRATION ALLOW FOR EASE OF CLEANING, WITH CURVED BASE. THEY ARE EASY TO CLEAN. THERE IS NEVER ANY LEAKAGE BEHIND WALLS.

WE EVEN BOND TO STAINLESS STEEL BASES FOR RESTAURANT CABINETS!

A LONG LIFE ALTERNATIVE TO EPOXIES, URETHANES, AND RESILIENT FLOORING LIKE SHEET VINYL FLOORS.

Restaurant sanitation area with hygienic floor.

Every restaurant needs a sanitation area, which includes the dish pit as well as a mop sink. This mop sink area is easy to clean, does not smell, and has a beautiful cove base.

This was a small but one of our toughest installations we performed for a Toronto client in the transportation industry.

55 years of oil contamination in a few layers of epoxy and polyurethane …or what remained of it. The previous installation had lasted only a couple of months before failing.

The maintenance floor was VERY slippery and was pooling oily water. The company wanted a permanent, anti slip fix that drained to a new sewer system. Rail Shop Services, a specialty rail road engineering services and general contractor from Edmonton involved us in demolishing and re-sloping the surface to a new drain hub…which we built that drain hub with of Silikal® R17 resin…plastic, high strength concrete.

Watch this video to see how we demolish, prep, slope and install our SureBond Silikal® R61 floor. (BTW, after 3 years that floor has not peeled or failed. The client is VERY happy.)
